Tom Daly is a dedicated business leader, the Managing Partner for Smith, Harney & Daly LLC and retired US Marine Corps officer. With Leadership being the core element of his success, Tom relies heavily upon his own military / professional development as he works with military veterans and business leaders themselves, to help put together new and dynamic leadership solutions. Because of his professional leadership development as a Marine officer, Tom knows a good leader by the leadership qualities they exhibit, and works daily with transformational leaders in their desire to better their organization.

Tom’s recruiting experience began during his days as a Marine Captain when he was the Officer in Charge of Officer recruiting in Central New York. In this role, Tom actively canvassed the four year colleges and law schools in Central New York actively looking for good leaders at the various schools who might be strong officer prospects. For two out of his three years in this role, Tom was considered the top officer recruiter for the Northeastern US. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corps, and in his leadership role as President of MLDJ Inc, Tom founded the new recruiting firm “The Celtic Group” and actively began pursuing prior military leaders for top companies throughout America.

Last year, Tom completed an independent consultant role where he served in a leadership capacity as the Deputy Director for Planning in the Mobile County, Alabama Branch for the BP Oil Spill clean-up. In this role, Tom was engaged in leading the planning efforts of this Ad Hoc, 1000 person organization. He was selected for this position because of his proven ability to work with new entities and to help them create an organization that was streamlined and built for success. In this role as his company’s Project Manager, Tom proved his flexibility while leading his small company team in a large dollar environment (Tom regularly billed $20Million per month) with his world energy leader client (BP).

In his role as the Managing Partner at Smith, Harney and Daly, Tom is once again leveraging his previous leadership and recruiting experience by building a three pronged recruiting platform (Jobs Portal with over 2000 jobs, the Executive Search Group, and leveraging a Broad Based, 1000 Recruiter Network Team). Because of his previous experience in the Marine Corps as a leader and deep experience in planning, operations, intelligence and recruiting, Tom is able to provide a wide breadth of experience to client companies in search of top talent as well as to dedicated veterans in their search to find work.

Tom was a varsity college football player (Linebacker) and earned a BS at the State University of New York at Cortland. Because of his belief in community involvement, Tom coached High School cross country for 8 years and was selected as the ST Pete Times, Cross Country Coach of the Year on two occasions. Tom is married and the proud father of five children.
